Knowing the difference and how to get support
Overview
Matcha and Matcha Meta are two distinct products built by 0x, each serving different purposes in decentralized trading. While their names are similar, they operate at different levels of the DeFi ecosystem.
Matcha (matcha.xyz)
What is Matcha?
Matcha is a DEX aggregator built by 0x that aggregates liquidity from all across web3 to get the optimal price for your trade. Think of it as a search engine for decentralized exchanges.
Key Features:
DEX Aggregation: Searches and trades over 50 million tokens across 100+ exchanges on 16 chains
Smart Order Routing: Automatically splits trades across multiple DEXs to get you the best price
Gasless Swaps: Swap tokens without requiring native tokens and get protected from MEV/sandwich attacks
Cross-Chain Swaps: Trade seamlessly between different blockchain networks
Wide Coverage: Access to millions of tokens with deep liquidity
How It Works:
Matcha connects directly to decentralized exchanges like Uniswap, Curve, Balancer, and many others. When you place a trade, Matcha searches all these DEXs simultaneously to find the best available price, then executes your trade—sometimes splitting it across multiple exchanges to minimize price impact.
Matcha Meta (meta.matcha.xyz)
What is Matcha Meta?
Matcha Meta is a meta-aggregator — a platform that compares prices across all major DEX aggregators to find the best possible execution for every trade. It's an aggregator of aggregators.
Key Features:
Meta-Aggregation: Compares quotes from multiple DEX aggregators (including Matcha, 1inch, Paraswap, and others)
Trade Simulation: Simulates trades to reduce reverts and improve execution quality on every DeFi swap
One-Time Approval: Approve tokens once to trade across all supported aggregators
Bridging: Users can bridge tokens via 0x's Cross-Chain API
How It Works:
Instead of connecting directly to DEXs, Matcha Meta queries other aggregators (which themselves aggregate DEXs). It then simulates each potential trade on-chain to verify which quote will actually execute as promised, helping you avoid misleading quotes or failed transactions.
